On Monday night in Jacksonville’s Lake Forest neighborhood, a targeted shooting unfolded, resulting in one fatality and injuries to two individuals. Reports of gunfire prompted police response around 6:30 p.m. Two men were discovered shot in the parking lot of a BP gas station, with one succumbing to injuries at the scene and the other transported to the hospital.

A third man, who managed to drive himself to the hospital, is in critical but stable condition. Witnesses recounted a white Dodge Charger entering the gas station’s parking lot, from which several individuals disembarked and initiated the shooting. The assailants appeared to have a specific target in mind, although the exact number of shooters remains uncertain.

A woman driving in the area was also involved, with her vehicle struck by gunfire, leading to a crash into a pole; fortunately, she escaped unharmed. While police have not released the identities of the victims, a friend of one described him as possibly being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Another witness highlighted the urgency of addressing gun violence in the community, emphasizing the need for measures to curb such incidents.
